The prequel to Chris’ many years in Christian ministry included sewerage pipe installation, statistical analysis, door-to-door selling and university tutoring. What led to him becoming a Christian? ‘It all began with the axe murder of the lady across the road,’ says Chris. That experience set him on a path to question life, attend church, and ultimately follow Jesus.
In addition to four years of studying Psychology at UNSW Sydney, followed by a BD at Moore College and an MA (Theology) at Bible College SA, Chris has been stunt flying in a Tiger Moth, enjoyed underground caving in Bungonia Gorge, consumed heaps of chunky slow cooked lamb, devoured stacks of books and movies (especially those with epic themes and twisting plots), and ridden a unicycle down Mount Osmond!
Chris likes to relax by reading, playing games, swimming, being awestruck by the beauty of nature, and hanging out with his wife, Narelle, and their three beautiful girls (and dog, Annie). He has little interest in celebrities, but loves reading about historical people who’ve made a difference through their courage and faith.
Chris has been part of the Trinity Network since 2003, serving at Trinity Church Adelaide for 15 years prior to becoming the Senior Pastor of Trinity Church Aldgate. He passionately enjoys people, and likes working hard to know God’s word himself and then making it clear to others. Mostly he does that as himself, but sometimes he appears as ‘Where’s Wally’, ‘Mr Squiggle’, ‘Dougal McDougal’, ‘Nigel Thornbury’, ‘Buccaneer Pete’ … the list goes on!
